No Dogs at Little Beach

I want to remind everyone of a situation becoming a problem at the beach.  There are no dogs allowed at the beach between May 15th and September 15th per:  Town of Barnstable Beach Use Restrictions 401 A – 5 Article F (No animals or pets are allowed, at any time, in any bathing beach (including parking areas) from May 15 through September 15).
These guidelines are set by the Town of Barnstable and include all beaches in Town.  We will be enforcing this regulation more proactively going forward.  Over the 4th of July weekend, the water was tested in Hall’s Creek and bacteria levels where reported as high, we where warned that a second failing test would have caused the Town to order the closing of the beach for an indefinite period of time.  Fortunately, subsequent testing came back within acceptable levels of bacteria and thus the beach was not ordered to be closed.  This is a warning to us that during the summer month, high bacteria levels can be common and are exacerbated by animal waste.  We do not want to have to tell homeowners and their guests that they cannot use the beach due to high bacteria levels, and I’m sure that those who rent their homes do not want to have to tell their renters that the beach is closed indefinitely.  All of us work to keep our beach and public areas as clean and well manicured as possible.  Please be a good neighbor and follow the rules and pass on to your guests and renters that dogs are not allowed at the beach at anytime between May 15-September 15.  We all want to enjoy the beach and common areas so do you part to make them comfortable to all residents and guests.
All the best,

SPIA General Meeting

After much discussion, the Board of Directors decided to cancel this year’s neighborhood picnic scheduled for Saturday, August 8th.  Unfortunately the continued risk of spreading Covid-19 will make it impossible to hold this year’s event.  However, we will hold the SPIA general meeting at 9:30 am Saturday, August 8th at Little Beach.  We won’t have a tent so the meeting will be weather permitting.  We’ll set up chairs in sets of two socially distanced and all attendees will be asked to wear masks.  I will send out the agenda in the coming days.  Please try to attend if possible, but we understand those who feel uncomfortable being there (the minutes will be posted on the SPIA website).  We won’t have coffee or donuts, so bring your own coffee or beverage of choice.

SPIA Events Update

The first general meeting of SPIA, Inc., scheduled for this coming Saturday morning at little beach is cancelled due to logistical issues in regard to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.  We will try to reschedule the meeting for mid-July if timing and logistics allow.  We will email you again as we get closer to sorting out the details.

We are very disappointed to announce we are also cancelling the July 4th parade.  The logistics of having a parade in such a small neighborhood left us no choice.  Hopefully next year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever.

As we all know this summer is going to be a very different kind of summer and we will keep you updated on scheduled events and any changes that come up.

Please continue to practice social distancing here on the Ave’s and enjoy your summer.

All the best,

Charlie Cormay
